Vision

A leading agency in consulting with Communities, societies, and the nation where government, private sector, and civil society that facilitates creating common space for all stakeholders to engage in collective actions to find solutions to the most pressing problems

Mission

Strengthen the cooperation, engagement, and collective efforts of government, private sector, and civil society for the common good.

Who we are?

We are a localized organization of ICCO Cooperation/Cordaid, the Netherlands. By localizing ourselves first, we have embarked on a journey to localize development initiatives that are locally defined, driven and owned.

ICCO Cooperation (colloquially known as ICCO), which integrated with Cordaid from the start of 2020, heavily contributed to producing influential civil society personalities, institutions and non-profit organizations in Nepal during the 1990s. ICCO then went to invest on ensuring food security, local economic development through entrepreneurial interventions in the agro-businesses (coffee, honey, mushrooms to name a few) from 2010 onwards. The rich repertoire consisting of knowledge, experience and innovative tools that ICCO/Cordaid built all these years when partnering with over 50 local non-government organizations, a few dozens of private sector actors/organizations and over 25 local governments in the last 3 decades is now going to be carried forward by same team that will inherit the legacy, maintain the working systems, culture and the compassion, only re-organized as a local not-for-profit and not-for-loss company-NCID.

Nepal Center for Integrated Development (NCID) is a non-governmental, apolitical, and ‘not for profit’- ‘not for loss’ organization established in 2023, and envisions strengthening and facilitating development processes by working along the vertical and horizontal linkages of the three critical powers of the society viz. Government, Private Sector, and Civil Society. Through advocacy, consultation, and research, NCID facilities concerted actions between these three pillars, which have been a significant concern in the development sector over the years.

NCID is a research, advocacy, and service delivery organization. NCID offers innovative solutions to challenging development problems by coherently bringing together the three powers of society. It intends to ensure a locally owned, sustainable transformation of the lives of the socially and economically disenfranchised sections of the population.

Through its pool of researchers from different sectors, NCID aspires to create synergy among state and non-state actors involved in development processes through a robust database and high-impact consulting designed to facilitate and expedite decision-making and progress.

NCID works to generate evidence and promote a culture of constructive development debates among the public through research, publications, advocacy, training, and resource mobilization. Through its pool of leading researchers and data scientists from diverse backgrounds, NCID aims to create a space for data-driven development with the adequacy of evidence in managing development projects across the country.

Though the country’s governance restructuring, formulated in the Constitution of Nepal 2015, is founded on a noble spirit of decentralization and devolution, the translation of this in practice falls far short. With the right intentions, several local governments are showing signs of making serious efforts toward providing basic services to the public in general. However, there are limited indications regarding using state-of-the-art in making the processes efficient or using data-driven tools and evidence-based techniques for planning and implementing local development initiatives. Likewise, the private sector has repeatedly raised the issue of the unavailability of data in different aspects of their daily businesses.

Moreover, civil society is also seeking a data-driven engagement in its watchdog function. Thus, NCID seeks to fulfill this gap between these key actors and facilitate synergizing their efforts.
